Thought District
With Jacob North's help, Thought District (a brand strategy and design firm) accomplished a behemoth of a printing project.

The Challenge

Thought District needed to construct a 400+ page product catalog and binder for their client GTE Industries featuring hundreds of products, separated by individually unique tabs, and then shipped directly to a customer list. And oh yeah, the binder had to be constructed in a manner that was as green as possible.

The Solution

Up to the task, Jacob North worked closely with Thought District to translate the working knowledge of GTE’s product specialists into a cohesive, written document that customers and channel partners could use to sell and purchase GTE’s products.

Several months before the drop date, Thought District and Jacob North gathered information and determined a plan to layout the project in a manner that would make sense for all sides involved, taking into account aesthetic design, readability, budget, and sustainability.

Jacob North produced the tabs and ensured the pages were collated correctly, then worked with Thought District to receive the binders, add pages, and finally ship the book to the customer and channel partner lists Thought District provided.

Jacob North provided added value by utilizing their in-house vertical integration of printing and mailing to handle the labels, boxes and all fulfillment activities. This helped ensure that the books would ship on the correct date.

The Results

The project, created from 100% recycled cardboard, was completed effectively and quickly despite Thought District's concerns over the aggressive drop date. Thoroughly exceeding Thought District's expectations, the final product reduces the complexity of GTE's breadth of offerings and has reduced the burden of product calls for GTE’s product specialists.

Thought District, a brand strategy and design firm, approached Jacob North with a doozy of a project: Construct a 400+ page product catalog and binder for their client, GTE Industries, featuring hundreds of products, separated by individually unique tabs, and then shipped directly to a customer list. "We knew the project was going to be a difficult one to tackle," said Nate Custard, Director of Brand Strategy, "That's why we wanted to partner with a printer who had considerable expertise with complex projects and could help us as we sought the quickest, most effective option."
